Road safety is a most common and important topic and has been added to various fields like education, social awareness, etc in to order to bring more awareness in the public especially new age group people. Students should be well recognized with this topic to fulfill following needs in their schools like making project, debates, attend quiz competition or essay writing competition.
Road traffic crashes are one of the world’s largest public health and injury prevention problems. The problem is all the more acute because the victims are overwhelmingly healthy before their crashes. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1 million people are killed on the world’s roads each year. A report published by the WHO in 2004 estimated that some 1.2 million people were killed and 50 million injured in traffic collisions on the roads around the world each year and was the leading cause of death among children 10–19 years of age. The report also noted that the problem was most severe in developing countries and that simple prevention measures could halve the number of deaths.
Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) is meant for purity, immaculate and morality. Social development is their motto. They always think and wo4 for the upliftment of the masses. Those organizations should try their best for the development of the poor and downtrodden people of the society by creating awareness in gram panchayat and block level. By organisation various programmes for the common people they should gather information regarding the people and disseminate the same to the government in the state as well as centre. Also they should propose the government to implement new schemes for different areas focusing on the local problems like water, road, education and sanitation.
As we know that our Ex-Prime Minister Sri AtalBihariVajpayee took the reforms to have a pakka road facility and the UPA Government on 1 July 2013 accepted before Supreme Court that National Democratic Alliance Government led by Vajpayee has developed half the roads in last 32 years in their 5-year term.
SUGGESTED ACTIONS
- 1. Construction of a building (MODI UMBRELLA) in each 35 kilometres which will be provided 4 kinds of major facilities.
- 2. This Modi Umbrella should be regulated or maintained by the Central finance Corporates.
- 3. Appointment of officers and staff s from the Centre after a strong inquiry related all aspects of a candidate.
- 4. All information regarding Road safety and a team will be appointed to give 24 7 update to the state as well as to nearby police station through wireless.
- 5. Accommodated for the appointed officers that they can be alert for all time and also rest house for the people who needs to take rest for some time in between long journey.
- 6. Appointment of a doctor and medical staff should be available with sufficient medical facilities.
Strategies and Action points
- 1. Set up solar 0 power yellow light in the middle strips of NH to show the way during fug.
- 2. Each state or block connected road name will be according to the freedom fighters name or legends belong to that particular area.
- 3. An emergency Ambulance “Road Master Ambulance” for 24 hours on duty. Through the health department needs to provide medical assistance at the earliest.
- 4. Plantation of mediumheight trees like mango, coconuts in the road side.
- 5. Establishment of information Centre in each bus stand.
- 6. Team of medical college need to assigned duty to Modi Umbrella Medical Centre.
- 7. Set up a specialized unit to deal with and investigate the major accidents or sport death.
- 8. Establish a designated unit in the Centre to guide monitor and support investigations pertaining the cause of accidents.
- 9. Create appropriate mechanisms for universal registration of transport license.
- 10. Formation of a mobile engineering department for the emergency information regarding accidents or to referral of medical.
- 11. Providing of Drinking Water and Toilet facilities to each and every 5 km distance to the NH as well as to the public place like bus stand.
- 12. Formation of pond and river in the forest for animals to avoid their entrance in the road.
- 13. Initiate measures to improve the care and security of all while crossing the road.
- 14. Formation of District Central Office to function and regulate the officers and staff.
- 15. Severe punishment or penalty to loot or anti-social activities during journey or disobey of traffic rules.
- 16. Placement of Vendors to 300 meters distant from the main road to prevent from sudden accidents and to maintain cleanliness.
- 17. Ensure the maintenance of public property like Statue of our freedom fighter and Legends built in Centre place of the city.
- 18. Establishment of religious worship Centre distant of 1000 meters from Main road.
- 19. Construction of Hotels and Restaurants should maintain distant from the Main road.
- 20. All Dhaba holders located near road side needs to have license to provide food assistance at all time.
- 21. Construction of road by keeping in mind a lifespan of atleast 5 to 6 years reducing the amount spent for repairing roads.
- 22. “Road safety” and transport system needs to be a lesson from primary to higher class students.
- 23. An emergency toll free number to be registered the on the sport accidents, death or injuries and to provide first aid or medical assistance at the earliest.
- 24. Construction of proper drainage system to prevent the accidents and water blockage during rainy season.
- 25. Cleanliness needs to be maintained by the non-veg vendors and place their market maintaining distant from main roads.
